Ouray is loving those recent snowstorms
OURAY — Southwest Colorado communities like Ouray are enjoying every flake of snow that’s fallen this season, so far.
That’s because they’re still stuck in a difficult drought situation.
"I was just looking this morning on Red Mountain Pass there’s about 30” sitting on the ground — which is better than last year. Because last year on this day we had 6” on the ground,” explained Patrick Ormond with Peak Mountain Guides, a local guide service in Ouray.
Man accused of breaking into residence halls at CU, stealing women’s underwear arrested
BOULDER, Colo. -- A man accused of breaking into residence halls at the University of Colorado Boulder and inappropriately touching a 10-year-old girl at a Broomfield store has been arrested, CU Boulder police said on Thursday morning.
Police said that they arrested 33-year-old Nicholas Joseph Lorenzo on Monday at Denver International Airport as he was flying back to Colorado.
Virgin Galactic tourism rocket ship reaches space in test
MOJAVE, Calif. — Virgin Galactic's tourism spaceship climbed more than 50 miles high above California's Mojave Desert on Thursday, reaching for the first time what the company considers the boundary of space.
The rocket ship hit an altitude of 51 miles (82 kilometers) before beginning its gliding descent, said mission official Enrico Palermo. It landed on a runway minutes later.
Shelter use up after homeless sweep, but cold temperatures are likely the reason
DENVER -- The Direct of Denver's Road Home said shelter use is up since the end of October, but said it's likely because of the cold temperature instead of the homeless sweep.
In October, The Denver Department of Public Health and Environment requested law enforcement remove encampments from an area surrounding the Samaritan House shelter in the area from 21st to 24th streets and Arapahoe and Lawrence streets.

Taylor Swift reportedly has no shortage of stalkers, and an expert says she used facial recognition to try and identify them.
Mike Downing, chief security officer of Oak View Group, an advisory board for concert venues including Madison Square Garden in New York and the Forum in Los Angeles, told Rolling Stone magazine a special kiosk was set up at Swift's Rose Bowl show in May.
Jared Polis to host ‘Blue Sneaker Ball’ as part of inauguration celebration
DENVER -- Colorado governor-elect Jared Polis has announced details surrounding his January 8 inauguration.
Polis will be sworn in as the 43rd governor at 11 a.m. on the west steps of the Colorado State Capitol.
The governor-elect will then host a "Blue Sneaker Inaugural Ball Celebration" at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science at 6:30 p.m.
